Professor İlker Camkerten is a academic specializing in veterinary internal medicine and veterinary biotechnology, with a strong interdisciplinary background that integrates life sciences, immunology, and applied biotechnology. His academic and professional career reflects a unique combination of information technologies, biomedical sciences, and translational veterinary research.

He began his professional career in Information Technology and Computer Programming. He then worked as an instructor at public education centres, contributing to vocational and technical education. He later pursued a career in veterinary medicine, graduating from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Selçuk University. This laid the foundation for his academic specialisation in animal health and biomedical research.

Professor Camkerten’s research focuses on developing evidence-based and innovative approaches to animal healthcare, particularly with regard to probiotics, phytotherapy, food additives and functional foods. Through scientifically validated nutritional and biotechnological strategies, his work aims to enhance animal health, productivity, and welfare.

In addition to his research and teaching activities, Professor Camkerten holds several important leadership positions within the international scientific community. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Advances in Veterinary Bioscience and Techniques (VetBio Journal). He is also President of both the International Congress on Veterinary Sciences and Techniques (ICAVST) and the International Congress on Advances in Bioscience and Biotechnology (ICABB), playing an active role in promoting global scientific exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Throughout his academic career, Professor Camkerten has taught undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral-level courses in veterinary internal medicine, immunology and biotechnology. He has supervised MSc and PhD students, and served as an editor, reviewer and board member for international scientific journals and academic organisations.

Professor Camkerten's scientific vision is grounded in evidence-based veterinary medicine, innovative and sustainable biotechnological solutions, animal welfare, and the One Health approach. This approach emphasises the interconnected health of animals, humans, and the environment. He continues to contribute to the advancement of veterinary biotechnology by translating scientific knowledge into practical, scalable and globally relevant applications.
